What skills will you learn?
In this third installment of the SoGrizz Quilting Beginner’s Series, we’ll introduce the exciting technique of Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP). Building on the sewing, cutting and pressing skills developed in part 1, you’ll learn how to create intricate patchwork designs with remarkable accuracy.
Foundation Paper Piecing is a wonderful technique for creating shapes, angles and detailed patterns that can be tricky to achieve with traditional piecing. We’ll take it step by step, learning how to read (and MAKE!) a foundation paper piecing pattern, position and stitch fabrics in the correct order, and achieve those crisp, precise points that make FPP so satisfying.
You’ll learn how to choose fabrics for your design, understand fabric placement and orientation, sew accurately along the foundation lines, and trim your sections before joining them together.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created your own Foundation Paper Pieced project and gained the confidence to tackle more intricate patterns. It’s a great introduction to a technique that opens up a whole new world of quilting possibilities!
Materials provided and included in the price:
-The FPP patterns and papers
-All fabrics needed
-Use of sewing machine (although you are welcome to bring your own);
-Use of thread, scissors, rotary cutter, seam ripper, rulers, ¼ inch and walking foot, pins, markers, etc.
